The cromox® stainless steel anchor swivel is the connecting link between the anchor and the chain. The smooth-running, rotating ball head of the anchor swivel aligns the anchor perfectly. This prevents the anchor chain from twisting and possibly causing damage.
Manufactured in Germany from high-strength and corrosion-resistant stainless steel 1.4462 Duplex / AISI 318LN, the original cromox® anchor twister CATO is a reliable and flexible component when anchoring. Its special shape and swivelling ball head connection ensures that the anchor is self-aligning during lifting and ensures good adaptation to the anchor roll. The innovative quick-release system makes it easy and uncomplicated to remove or replace the anchor from the anchor chain.;
The most important data at a glance:
Just like all our other products, our anchor twisters are characterised by their particularly high-quality workmanship, which guarantees exceptional strength and durability. Their versatility allows them to be used in a variety of maritime environments, from recreational boating to industrial applications. Our anchor swivels are suitable for both fresh and salt water, which expands their range of applications.
Specially developed for the requirements of shipping, anchor swivels from Ketten Wälder GmbH offer an optimum solution for connecting the anchor to the anchor chain. The special design and material consider the dynamic and often demanding conditions at sea. This not only improves safety and efficiency when anchoring, but also extends the service life of the anchor system.
The innovative quick-change system, which is integrated into the swivelling ball head swivel, enables the anchor to be replaced or removed quickly. Thanks to its rotatability, the anchor swivel enables greater flexibility and efficiency at work.
How the system works: The bolt is loosened using an Allen key, the anchor is hooked in, and the bolt is tightened again. This allows the anchor and anchor chain to be separated quickly and easily.
1.4462 Duplex (AISI 318LN) is a type of stainless steel that is particularly corrosion-resistant and durable. This material is therefore ideal for applications in both fresh and saltwater environments (regardless of the degree of contamination of the water), as well as in the chemical and petrochemical industries and in the offshore sector.
This type of stainless steel combines the best properties of austenitic and ferritic steel, which gives it the name "duplex". The high proportion of chromium, nickel and molybdenum increases its corrosion resistance. It also has a high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, which frequently occur in maritime environments. Its high strength, which is about twice as strong as most common austenitic stainless steels, allows the use of thinner materials, which can also lead to weight and cost savings.
Anchor twisters or anchor swivels are special devices that are attached to the end of an anchor chain between the anchor and the chain. They allow the anchor to twist and turn without twisting the chain. This is particularly useful in situations where your boat is being turned by wind or currents or you are lifting the anchor. By using an anchor twister/anchor swivel, the anchor can swivel freely and adapt to the changing orientation of the boat without twisting the chain. If the anchor swivel is bent, it adapts well to the anchor roller, which makes it even easier to weigh anchor.
Anchor swivels are mainly used in shipping to connect anchors to the anchor chain. They are used to absorb the rotation of the anchor and thus protect the chain from twisting.
Ketten Wälder GmbH's cromox® anchor swivels are manufactured in Germany. However, the company's own production facilities in Bad Endorf in Upper Bavaria are not only used for production on over 5,500 square metres, but also for careful testing in the company's own Lloyd's Register-certified test laboratory. Over 1,000 different product solutions for lifting and moving loads are dispatched from the company's own factory to over 50 countries worldwide.
Anchor swivels made of stainless steel (inox) are resistant to corrosion and rust, making them ideal for use in maritime environments. They also have high strength and can withstand high loads, which extends their service life. They require less maintenance than anchor twisters made of other materials as they are easy to clean. They are also aesthetically pleasing: an aspect that is important to many boat owners.
The cromox® stainless steel anchor swivel is an indispensable detail for every boat owner, yacht owner and sailor who values safety and reliability. Made of high-quality stainless steel, the CATO anchor twister is durable and reliably ensures that the anchor always remains in the correct position when moving in and out.
