Whether in the recycling, bulk goods or steel industry – our conveyor chains impress under the toughest operating conditions thanks to their robust properties and long service life. In the food and automotive industries too, chains made of stainless steel, also known as inox steel (from the French "inoxydable", meaning "non-corrosive" or "rustproof"), are an optimal and reliable solution.
The high-quality cromox® conveyor chains are made of high-strength stainless steel 1.4404 or 1.4462 Duplex (AISI 316L or AISI 318LN Duplex), calibrated and additionally blasted for a particularly smooth surface. This makes them particularly robust and they run almost frictionless over the sprockets for an even more efficient production process. They are available with a breaking force of 36 kN to 580 kN.

Conveyor chains are in use day and night in many industrial plants and are therefore a highly stressed and essential part of the production process. If they are made of high-quality, robust materials, they help to increase production efficiency and reduce downtime. Choosing the right conveyor chain depends on a number of factors, including the type of materials to be moved, the speed required and the environmental conditions. It is important to check the conveyor chain regularly for wear and damage to ensure optimum performance.
High-quality conveyor chains are characterised by their reliability, durability and ease of maintenance. These are properties that the material stainless steel has to offer. Its high corrosion resistance makes it durable and easy to clean. Even under the harshest conditions, its smooth surface is virtually resistant to contamination, whether in the chemical industry or at extreme temperatures. Chains made of stainless steel run almost smoothly over the sprockets. In addition, its high strength makes it particularly suitable for high and permanent loads, which conveyor chains are often exposed to, especially in the bulk goods or steel industry.
As mechanical elements, conveyor chains are parts of devices that are mainly used in industry to transport materials from one place to another. They consist of interlocking links that together form a chain. This chain is driven by a motor that pulls the chain around one or more wheels. The chain can be moved either horizontally or vertically. Conveyor chains are used in a variety of industrial applications, including the manufacturing, assembly, packaging and mining industries. Their main function is to simplify and speed up the flow of materials, thereby increasing the efficiency of the production process.
In industry, conveyor chains are often used to transport materials in production lines. For example, they play a crucial role in the automotive industry, where they are used to move vehicle parts from one production section to the next. In the food industry, they contribute to the hygiene and efficiency of food processing, while in warehouses and distribution centres, conveyor chains are used to effectively sort and transport goods. They are also used in agriculture, where they are used to harvest and process produce.
Stainless steel conveyor chains are extremely durable and resistant to corrosion, which means that they function very well even under harsh conditions. In addition, they are easy to maintain and clean, which reduces their total cost of ownership. Their robustness also makes them ideal for heavy-duty applications. Less waste is deposited on their smooth surface, which increases the efficiency of the conveying process.
A chain that is manufactured in accordance with DIN standard 766. This standard applies to tested calibrated chains and specifies dimensions and mechanical properties.
Conveyor systems in food processing and in hygiene-critical production areas are subject to exceptionally high material requirements in terms of cleanliness and resilience. The high-quality and corrosion-resistant cromox® chains made of stainless steel have been successfully proven and established here for years.
This is also confirmed by the company GDI Intralogistics GmbH, which specialises in washing, conveying, storage and automation technology for reusable containers in the food industry: it has been using cromox® conveyor chains in its washing systems for reusable crates for many years.
