INOX/NiRo safety D-shackle CSS from cromox® - quality at the highest level

INOX/NiRo safety D-shackle CSS from cromox® - highest demands

The CSS safety D-shackles epitomize the exceptional stainless steel products of the cromox® brand from Ketten-Wälder. These safety shackles have been developed for demanding applications. They impress with their guaranteed durability and reliability. Each safety shackle is made from high-quality AISI 316L stainless steel. This stainless steel is valued for its excellent properties in terms of durability, load-bearing capacity and corrosion resistance. The safety shackles are available in different sizes and load capacities and cover a wide range of needs in the lifting and transportation sector.

The CSS safety D-shackle range offers solutions for chain thicknesses between 4.0 mm and 13 mm. They comply with DIN EN 13889 standards and the maximum load capacity varies between 0.40 and 3.85 tons, while the weight of the safety shackle itself is between 0.04 kg and 0.95 kg. Detailed information on dimensions such as diameter, pitch or strength of the safety shackles can be found in the respective product descriptions on this page. These stainless steel safety shackles are additionally secured with a split pin.

About stainless steel D-shackles

CD-shackles serve as central connecting elements in lifting and transportation technology and transfer the tensile forces from the load to the chain or rope of a hoist. Their D-shape enables more flexible movement of the attached chains or ropes. The safety shackles are closed with a usually screwable bolt, making them suitable for quick replacement of the respective chain or load. Such safety shackles are made of either galvanized steel or stainless steel.

However, the properties of galvanized steel are not sufficient for use in aggressive environments or under extreme environmental influences. Here, in addition to a high-strength grade, particular emphasis must be placed on resistance to corrosion. This is why these cromox® products are made from tested and corrosion-resistant stainless steel. This makes them ideal for use in extreme conditions. Thanks to these properties, cromox® safety shackles are the preferred accessory in many different industries worldwide.

Stainless steel products from cromox®

The stainless steel products from cromox® are characterized by their outstanding quality and the "Made in Germany" guarantee. The result of many years of research and development by Ketten-Wälder, they meet the high standards of DIN EN 13889. This specification defines the safety criteria for lifting fasteners. This includes the required design features such as size, accuracy levels and other specifications. The standard also defines the necessary test procedures such as load tests, strength tests, notched impact strength and chemical resistance tests.

The in-house testing laboratory of cromox® is certified by Lloyd's Register. Here, we subject all our stainless steel products to strict quality control. These products are known for their excellent resistance to corrosion, their long-lasting durability, and their reliable performance even in the harshest environments. Therefore, they are preferentially used by companies from the corresponding industries such as the food, automotive, or chemical industries. The relevant test certificates are supplied with your order.

Areas of application for D-shackles as slings or lifting gear

Due to their properties, D-shackles are indispensable in lifting and conveying technology. Here they act as a connection between the load and the lifting gear. Their specific D-shape and design consists of a curved body with a straight bolt passing through the ends. This ensures that the load is securely anchored. The secure position of the bolt is ensured by a split pin which is guided through a specially designed hole in the protruding part of the bolt. This split pin (which is also corrosion-resistant) is a distinctive feature of the CSS safety D-shackle. All connecting elements serving as lifting means must undergo regular checks to ensure their safety and performance continuously. The specific regulations for these inspections are set out in standards such as EN 12195, EN 14492, or the DGUV Regulation 100-500..

Stainless steel AISI 316L

The stainless material AISI 316L is a high-quality austenitic steel that is used for special loads due to its excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical strength. The addition of molybdenum improves its resistance to chloride corrosion and makes it extremely resistant to acids and alkalis. It is listed under the chemical designation X2CRNiMo17-12-2. The properties of this stainless steel make it a versatile material for many applications. With its low carbon content, it enables efficient processing and is resistant to both high and low temperatures.
